my sister, who is quite a few years older than me, encouraged my dressing in her clothes. she showed me how select an outfit, apply makeup (she preferred a light, subtle touch that complements one's natural features), and in the late 60s when long hair on boys became a thing she taught me to style it to achieve a feminine look. we are still very close, although much older. even my dad approved of the results and often i would dress en femme around the house, dressing butch only to go out. even then i would underdress, and dad would take us away for say, dinner and i might stretch the boundaries with an androgynous look.
